It's been a long 2 weeks!

Sand Cranes at Mom Trinklein's house in Florida
Friends in Columbus had the Band for a Bar-B-Que and this is their Dog - Lassie - yest that's her name and the sweetest dog ever!!

I got to have a short visit with my friend Debi, Maggie and Adam and Jerry!!

Loved Loved Loved that....

My knitted "Cuffs"

I know I haven't posted but I'm still getting over the last two weeks. Working and a trip to Florida to see the family has totally worn me out. I wandered around the house today looking for something to do and just decided to take a nap instead! I did not even paint at all this week which really bums me out - I just don't have the creative energy. I did cut the grass for the first time this year and the yard looked so pretty - of course, it's rained for 2 days and going to rain for 2 more now so I'm glad I got that done. I do love to ride my tractor and cut the grass. It's such a peaceful time for me! And especially nice when it's not 100 degrees. Then I took an afternoon in my wood shop and built 3 bird feeders and 1 bird house and THAT I loved. I miss working in the shop and need to do more of that. Got all the laundry done (even Kenny's) and I never do that! Of course, I watched American Idol and think everyone should just go on home and let Adam sing all the songs!!! I've just piddled this week and I guess that's not a bad thing. We're going back to Columbus tomorrow for the weekend and then I get to stay home for 2 weeks and work Beluga. We are supposed to have major rain this weekend and that's alright too because we need it so bad. I just don't like it raining in Columbus. I'm posting some random pictures I've been taking and promise to post more often!!! Oh, Christy, I found the nice Bamboo yarn at Micheal's for $5.00 - Duh - Made several little face cloths - and I learned how to K2 P2 today - making a wrist warmer but had to "frog it" 3 times - I get the rows mixed up but I've started another one. I need to know how to fix it without tearing out the whole thing!

Best of My Day.......A Nap

Started my Blog

Last Night then I hit the wrong button and it went away! I was too tired to start over! I really miss my "hour" and have been running like crazy for 2 days today my body said "I'm Done". I did take it easy but got my laundry done, cooked, played in the yard with the girls, and knitted in my swing - now that was fun. It was 77 degrees and just beautiful - I actually had to dig out a pair of shorts then when the sun went down had to find my long pants and bedroom shoes! It's getting cooler again and going to be rainy and really cool by friday! I'm going to tackle the "packing" tomorrow - 2 weekends of stage clothes and shoes for Columbus, 4 days in Florida Heat, casual wear in Columbus where it's supposed to be cold and rainy! Yikes, there may no be room for the equipment. I haven't taken any pictures lately but I hope to have plenty next week. There are also two little dirty Yorkie's that need a bath before we head out. Today, Matilda was chasing her "Blue Elephant" - we have 6 now - and before I stop her she ran to the bird bath and drank the dirty water! I have to clean it out when we get back - it's her "water bowl" in the yard! I'm going to deliver the paintings to Debi and Maggie and all four Yorkies get a play date next week in Florida. I can't wait to see them all. And Christy, I hope to have a couple more "projects" to show you and hope we find a little time together for a lesson. See, those four days are going to fly by! But the main reason we are going it to spend time with Mom T and celebrate her birthday. It is still very very hard for her and she misses Dad as we all do. It's going to feel even more strange I think going to their house this time because before we were there for the funeral and now it's just that he won't be there. It's really hard. I'm so tired I have no idea what all I'm writing about - I think I'm rambling - that could be old age or just exhausted! So I will stop and try to get some sleep. I CAN'T get Matilda to "observe" the time change - she wakes me up and 9 am and then I have to go back to sleep. I think I'll give her one of my xanax (just kidding) but Tatiana will stay in bed ALL day with you - good girl.....So until later....have a wonderful day....

They say Spring will be here tomorrow

In the mid 70's!! I'm still cold tonight but that is fine with me. The sun was shining today and Matilda laid on the deck - she loves to do that. I opened the windows and the door but found out it was still cold outside! Oh well, I left them open anyway and went downstairs to paint. Cold down there too so I turned on my little heater. I got 3 cigar boxes finished and some more started so that's progress. We enjoyed the soup I made yesterday for dinner and I cleaned up the studio. I watched the "wild card" American Idol - I'm still voting for Adam all the way. And I knitted. One set of "Wrislets" I am making - well the yarn is really pretty and multi-colored. I made the first one and then noticed the second one was a completely different color! So now I have to do two more to get a match! You can't see this when you look at the yarn. Then I bought this nice thick beige and got one done tonight. Wow, it's gonna have to be real cold to wear these! Ok Ok, I'm learning and don't know s*** about yarn! I haven't even gotten by the knit stitch yet although I watched the pearl stitch and as soon as I finish these three sets, I'm gonna try it! Tomorrow is do my nail, do my roots, pick out the costumes, and shoes, re-charge my monitor batteries - oops, need to do that tonight so I'll go. Beluga this weekend and hope tons of people show up! Then we loose that hour on Saturday night but I don't care because I love daylight savings time!!

Best of My Day: finishing a little cigar box for Maggie with a bunny painted on it...

Just a nice Day

Sometimes I just need a "day" and today was it. I didn't just lie in bed, although I did sleep until noon - but didn't get to sleep until 4am. I did my "morning thing" which is a pot of tea and reading the news on line, checking emails, etc. I did my four loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher and made sure the house was put together. After a sandwich for lunch, I worked on my knitting (Christy, you'll just have to wait for pictures, but they are all little "wristlets". I wore my black ones with rhinestone buttons on stage friday night! And wore them Monday all day and it's amazing how they keep your hands warm even with your fingers out! And it's very easy to smoke a cigarette! Ha - that's why I always hated wearing gloves! I don't think I posted this but my Daddy's hands are always cold because he's 96 years old and has circulation problems. I showed him my wristlets and told him to put them on. He promptly said oh yeah, then put them by his chair on his table - needless to say I did not ask for them back and I hope he wears them. I think for anyone who has to sit around and is cold these are great - you can still read a book or pretty much do anything with your hands. These might be good for Senior Citizen Homes! So, I got off track - I knitted then made a pot of wonderful soup and cornbread. I watched American Idol (my winner is already picked out - Adam Lambert - Duh, I love him) and had my soup and knitted some more! I got three wristlets done this afternoon (got to do the fourth one for the second pair). I also made a "face Scrubby" - saw it on Etsy and it works! My is bigger because I had started a wristlet but made a scrubby instead. They are supposed to be 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 to remove makeup. I like this idea because my "bar towels" that I use get make up all over them. So I made me a red one and washed my face with it tonight. These make a wonderful additions to KiKi's products! Oh, dear, I'm telling all my "gift ideas" for 2009 - crap. Enough of that I HAVE to paint tomorrow and the temps are a rising - mid 60's tomorrow and 70's by Friday and MID 70's by Saturday. I guess my last little burst of winter snow has come and gone. At least I got to see some snow. It was beautiful falling. Still not ready for summer but spring will be nice. My Yellow Bell Bush is in full bloom and beautiful. I will have to take pictures tomorrow. We moved into this house 4 years ago on Monday - AND it SNOWED that day! So, it was just a "Nice Day" and hope all of you had one too.....

Maggie and her Daa

Maggie and Daa

This is a very special commission of Maggie and her Daa (that's what she calls him). I have painted Maggie before with Adam - the Yorkie. Debi, her Mom has been a close friend of mine for years and of course, we love Yorkie's. We got Chloe and her Mellie at the same time and now with both of them gone to the "Rainbow Bridge" we have more Yorkie babies to love and love. I'll be delivering this painting in 2 weeks to Florida when we go back to see Kenny's Mom so I can't wait to see them. Bob (Daa) is very sick right now so we all hope in the future Maggie (age 3) will be able to treasure this painting......

Delivering Daddy's Portrait

Tatiana giving Papa sugar!!

The Portrait

Kenny and I drove to SC on Tuesday to see Mother and Daddy AND take him his portrait that I painted. He had seen the very beginning but this was the first time he had seen the finished painting. I was so excited and didn't know Kenny was making a movie - I thought he was going to take pictures so I kept saying the Flash is not turned on! It took him a while to get me to understand he was taking a movie! I think you can see that Daddy liked it (even though the light was all wrong) and when he wiped a tear from his eye I almost lost it! We all went for a lovely dinner and had a great visit the next day too. He gets so tired but he held up very well for 96 years old! We did get a couple of pictures too - I'm just so proud of my Daddy.

Tired but love to paint...

I am so exhausted from the weekend - which by the way was PACKED at Beluga. We had a great two night - the band sounded great and the crowd was wonderful and wild. It just felt good to have it like the old days...Did nothing on Sunday except eat Mexican Food and watch the Oscars - I never see the movies - just like to watch the show. I got a few things done today but I am still tired. But I made myself get in the van and drive to Marietta for my Art Group. I'm working on a very special commission (pictures when I finish) and I've got the painting to a point where I can finish and sign it next week. Kenny and I are going to SC tomorrow to see Mother and Daddy for just one night. I'm taking his "portrait" to give to him so I'm excited for him to see it. He had an eco-gram last week and the heart Doc said his valves are deterating and they did put him on some medicine. I know at 96 years old this does happen. I just want him to feel good - he's so tired right now. And I can't talk about this either. I do need to get up and give my dirty little Yorkie children a bath before we go to Granny and Papa's - they have to wear their new dresses! I wonder what the kitties will think? HA! That's about all going on right now and I'm am going to sleep I hope very soon.....
Best of My Day........Painting a beautiful Portrait!

Knitting

You know I wanted to learn how to knit so my niece "tried" to show me how Thanksgiving and I did finish the funny little doggie blanket. Well, I wanted to do a "real" project and it's not perfect and I haven't woven in the tails yet but I'm going to wear these tomorrow!! They are wrist warmers and I'm sure I don't have them put together right and one is longer than the other and one if wider than the other but they are my first!!! So there.... I'm trying to start another pair but I'm having all kinds of problems with the cast on...help Christy!! You know, this would be so much easier if you lived closer and I could come to "Knitting Night"! But I'd spend most of the time on your front porch smoking! Now, I'm picturing sewing little buttons on them and making black ones with rhinestones....oh, getting ahead of myself - I'd better learn how to do them right first! If I ever do get this down, I guess there will be lots of "wrist warmer" presents in my future! I only do this when I watch TV so it takes me awhile. I've got too many other things going on - like commission art work! Kenny just looks at me and shakes his head - something else for me to focus on! I'm still going to wear them tomorrow night to Beluga (not on stage) but to the gig because it's going to be in the 20's here.....

Daddy's Portrait - I finished it!

I cried a little when I signed this portrait....I took the picture Christmas morning this year, 2008... And Daddy turned 96 on January 14th 2009! It wasn't a "posed" picture - I was just snapping while he was waiting on the coffee to brew and we were going to open presents. I just loved the way the light hit his hands - those wonderful strong hands that held me, pushed me on my first bike, built my tree house, planted in the earth and guided me through life. I will be taking it to him on my next trip to SC and hope he loves it as much as I do........And I love him....

The Whole Batch of Bird Houses

I worked in the shop today and finished all 50 of my little Valentine Birdhouses - It looks like a lot more all lined up on the table. I'm going to put them in a basket with a Red Bow and take them to Belloo's saturday night and hand them out to the ladies for as long as they last! They were fun to make....I also painted more tonight in the studio on cigar boxes - I'm getting there with the catch up slowly but surely....

work on Daddy's Portrait

I finally got to work more on Daddy's portrait last night and if feels so good. I've got a little more to do on it but I wanted to keep it loose and "painterly". Today is beautiful and I am determined to work on more cigar boxes - I have to catch up! I just can't wait for Daddy to see the final painting!!!

Valentine Bird Houses

First of all - I feel better today - very very strange. I really thought I had the flu and slept about 12 hours. My fever broke in the middle of the night and woke up not hurting. I still feel weird and my throat hurts but I'll be fine for tonight. Now, my little project for Valentines - I made these "faux" birdhouses and plan to give them out at Belloo's to the ladies. So far I have 60 of them cut out - not all put together yet. I spray them white then stain them to look old. I paint the red heart and put the "nest" in. I looked for some tiny eggs but can't find any so I'm using a silver bead for an egg. I used all scrap wood and had all the other stuff (see, don't throw away your craft material!). I think it will be nice and hopefully everyone with like them. You can put them in your garden or in a windowsill. Happy Valentines Day!!! Well, next week......

Damn Damn Damn

I'm aching all over with chills and fever - I CANNOT have the flu because I have to work this weekend. I'm going to bed.......

Cleaning Day

Tatiana says aren't I pretty with new Bow???
Matilda on Bath Day with new our new bows!!!

Baths, Mopping, Dusting, Cleaning - Yuk...I miss my housekeeper! Times is Tough! But I got it done and it feels good - except my back. But I did take a nice hot bath and feel better. We are just hoping a lot of us don't get the flu - Kenny's brother Bob went home to Mn yesterday from Florida with the Flu! Of course, all of us were together last week plus at the church where there lots and lots of people shaking hands. I'm pretty sure we missed it because we left on Friday plus we did have a flu shot. Our brother-in-law Bill just left today for a trip of a lifetime to Israel so we really pray he didn't get it - that would be miserable. I did work in my wood shop yesterday and it felt so good I can't even tell you how much. I have missed my saws and the sawdust - except my nose is stopped up but it's worth it. I'm working on a little project - pictures will have to come later. It was too cold today to stay downstairs so that's why I decided to clean - duh! Now we are in bed and Tatiana wants to play "Throw the squeaky hot dog off the bed" - it's a favorite game and I have to get up and get it! I'm really tired of this game and it's cold! Lower teens tonight and it didn't get above freezing today which I do like! Cozy fireplace time tonight with my knitting. But by Saturday we're in the mid-upper 60's - Wow - Atlanta weather - what can I say. Our friend Ricky was home in England and was leaving when the snow storm hit London. We thought he would be stuck but he got one of 10 planes that got to get out. He did get stuck in Philly for one night but made it back to sunny Las Vegas. Now, I wish I had been in London for that snowstorm! It was 17 years ago this month (Feb 10th) that we flew to London for the first time. I loved it then and that's where my obsession of PG Tips Tea began - actually in Eastleigh where Ricky is from. His Mum fixed me my first cup of tea that had sugar and milk in it - I had never been able to drink hot tea - and I fell in love! I have drank it now for 17 years - I used to order it on line or depend on friends to bring some to me from England but now I'm so pleased that Whole Foods carry PG Tips! I had a lovely cup tonight with a hot bath and it did the trick! Very Proper! I think I kinda got off track but had to post the pictures of the girls with their new Bows - Maggie send them from Florida - a whole bag full and they look so cute and they know it too!!! Now if I can just get Tatiana to quit throwing that damn hot dog off the bed - Matilda is just watching from her Snuggle Ball!!!

Home Again

Robert Louis Trinklein
November 24th, 1923 - January 25th, 2009
See you around heaven some day......

We arrived back home last night and exhausted. The week with the family was both sad and comforting. There were lots of laughter, stories, and tears. We were all trying to be strong for Mom and so was she. Everyone did arrive despite all the snow storms and the fact that the Super Bowl was in Tampa last week - talk about hard to get airline tickets. The service for Dad Trinklein was beautiful and his brother, Rev Ed Trinklein and both sons, Bob and Jon, plus their pastor spoke which was very special. There was a lot of food from the wonderful church friends, lots of family and each day was filled to the brim. You really don't have much time to sit down and grieve. We left Tampa at noon on Friday, drove 9 hours to Columbus, jumped in the shower, dressed for the gig and actually did it! We were running on pure adrenaline by this time and the friday night show was good. By saturday it had begun to hit both Kenny and I but we did it again on Saturday night. But I'll tell you by the time we got back home at 8:30 Sunday night we were pretty much zonked. We both slept hard and it is great to sleep in your own bed. Last night while I was reading I had an over whelming feeling of sadness at the loss of Dad T and I'm sure that will be the first of many. I realized how hard it is to grieve just because of the moment but it will hit you out of the blue. We will all miss this funny, kind, wonderful man and are blessed to have had him in our lives. Sleep well Dad and enjoy heaven because we all know that is where you are......

Kenny's Dad

Robert Trinklein, Kenny's Dad passed away this morning. He fought so hard from his very rough surgery in December but his heart just stopped. He was 85 years old and a joy to us all. I will post more later but we are getting ready to leave for Lakeland Fl to be with his Mom and family. Thank you all for your prayers......

Kenny's getting Better

He feels a little better but still resting - this Pneumonia is nothing to mess with. We are not working this weekend so that is a good thing. NOT how we would like to spend a weekend off but he needs to get well. I actually spent the evening filling out all the address cards in my Microsoft Outlook! That took a while but I've got all the addresses, phone #'s and emails and birthdays I hope! Now I just half to figure out how to transfer it to my Blackberry. You are supposed to be able to do that. And I slept - a lot - today....I think I've been so tired and not having to work I can't seem to do anything. I painted one day but can't find any energy - I hope to do something tomorrow! I am sitting in bed with the window open - it's about 60 degrees at 1:15AM! Where did my winter go? Actually, it's coming back on Sunday - yeah - fireplace and knitting! speaking of knitting - this is for Christy - I wanted to "start" a quick project - I'm still working on the Holy Doggie Blanket - so I got this pretty gray yarn - it does have little "balls" on it. I want to my wrist warmers - NOT fingerless gloves - not that good yet. Well, it took FOREVER to cast on - it kept knotting up at the little balls! And I can't really tell where the stitches are. I got a little kit with a book and accessories - had a coupon from Michaels' for 50% off. It has 2 pair needles, 6 and 7 - book, counter thingy, little round things to separate stitches, a ruler, and 2 more things I don't even know what they are - looks like a big safety pin - all for $5.00 - SO - I'll let you know how it turns out. The end where I started is very uneven so it may just be a mess but I KNOW I can do this! I sure wish you were here - I do better with the video's - I've never been good and reading directions and understanding them. I do much better with "visual". Now, I've slept so much today I'll be up all night. Good thing I went to the Libray yesterday and have new books to read. Poor Matilda just wants some one to play with her and I have to do that tomorrow - go out in the yard and throw the blue elephant. Now, Tatiana says I'll just stay in bed with Daddy - she is such a cuddly button in bed and loves it. So, here we are on a Friday night - I would only be doing my second show by now. I hope the economy picks up soon - I don't think I like this. Matilda just climbed into her snuggle ball on the bed so I think I'll go give her some sugar!!!!!!

I am an American

A Day of History today - I could not stop watching and being amazed at Americans. So I watched and listened. The peace and the love of all the people was inspiring. The smiles made me smile. The tears made me cry. The pride made my heart swell. I did not vote for Obama as I am a Republican and always have been. That said, I fully support our President and will be the American he is asking us all to be. I pray for his strength and wisdom to lead our country. There have been so many ugly things in America for a long time and I think it's time to pull together as one people, one country, one world.

God Bless Obama, God Bless George Bush, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.......

Tatiana being a nurse to Daddy

I'm making my Daddy feel better!!!!
Matilda said Mommy made my hair stand up!!!

Tatiana was loving on her Daddy tonight to make him feel better! He's been up all day and working in his office when he's supposed to be in bed! But I think she helped a bit. It's supposed to "snow flurry" tomorrow so I hope I get to see it. I really wish it would snow up to my butt! I did brush the girls hair but Matilda has static and it looked so funny. I have a headache and don't want to write any more so I'm going to read my book and take a xanax

bronchial pneumonia

Yep, that's what Kenny has. George checked him out in Columbus on friday and they started him on the strong anti-biotics. We worked friday night - and he played those drums and then slept most of the day on Saturday which is exactly what he needed to do. LeBron (our bass player) made Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner and that was good medicine for him too. He was actually better by Saturday night and now we are home and it's a holiday so he slept in and I'm going to make him more chicken soup with rice (his request). And as the "recession" kicks in harder we were cancelled this weekend at Beluga so we have a weekend off coming up. It's not what we need but at least Kenny can have a couple of weeks to get over this. And for the first time since before Thanksgiving I am going to PAINT this week. I have missed my studio and with everything going on and the holidays I'm starved for creativity. I need to paint some cigar boxes that I wanted to do for gifts so after today of grocery shopping and cooking and unpacking and laundry it's down in the hole for me!!!! I LOVE January....

Daddy's 96th Birthday

Like Father, Like Daughter!
Mother, Daddy and Me

Mother and Daddy

My cousin, Karen and Daddy

Laughing and Happy
Got to fix that hair just right
This is so sweet

The Cracker Barrel Breakfast!

96 years of looking back

Richard Claiborne Hemphill, Born in Fries, Virginia January 14th, 1913.....Yep he's 96 years old! What a wonderful and special time with him and Mother today. I went up yesterday and spent the night. Kenny was supposed to go but he is really sick (and worse today) and I'm back home tonight trying to be a good "nurse". Mother and Daddy, my cousin Karen and I went to Olive Garden for dinner last night and he had a great dinner (and a couple glasses of wine!) We all went back home and visited. Mother and Karen and I ate cake - Daddy didn't want any! He didn't stay up until midnight but almost. Mother and Karen and I stayed up then after she went home Mother and I STILL stayed up some more until about 2 am. Well, of course at 9am this morning Mother woke me up and Papa was dressed and ready to go to Cracker Barrel- his favorite breakfast place. He orders the "Sampler" with eggs, bacon, country ham (double order), grits, apples, gravy and biscuits and toast with apple butter. NOW - he eats the whole thing and he is still skinny as a rail. He's done this all of his life and breakfast is his favorite meal. His mind is so sharp and funny too. The manager of Cracker Barrel bought his breakfast and all the waitresses came over and kissed him - he had red lipstick on his cheek! We spent most of the day together and I drove home to take care of Kenny. It's hard to explain how at 58 years old what it means to have both my parents especially since Daddy is 96. I love him so very very much and he is my rock in life. And I do have to say as wonderful as this birthday was we did have some sad news too. My Aunt, Eunice Green, passed yesterday - she turned 95 on Dec 26 of this year. Her son Danny, is my soul mate brother. I got to spend some time with him and Betsy today and for that I'm thankful. Aunt Eunice was a delightful kind woman who I spent many many childhood days in her wonderful home. She was married to my mother's brother, Clark who passed in 1963. She has gone home to be with her beloved Clark. Rest and rejoice Aunt Eune....we all love you......
Happy Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!

The Most Important Painting of my Life

Christmas Morning
In progress

I usually don't post "in progress" paintings but I want to keep this one as progress of love. My Daddy will be 96 years old on Wednesday and I will be there with him and my Mother to celebrate this wonderful day. I've done a painting of Daddy several years ago of him sitting in a campground with a cup of coffee in his hand. So I had no intention of doing another one right now - until Christmas morning when I was randomly snapping pictures. We were about to open gifts and the sun was shining on my Daddy. I started it tonight and I'm going to SC tomorrow so at least he can see the progress too. Poor Kenny may not get to go because he is so very sick. He has a horrible cold - I had one last week but got over mine quick - his is very different and we don't want to expose Mother and Daddy to this plus Kenny is just miserable. So I think me and the girls are going for Papa's Birthday. It was hard not to cry while painting this but at the same time every stroke of the brush has a lot of love and pride of my Father, my Daddy.......
(remember this is only 3 hours of work!!)

Knitting

Someday it will be a Doggie Blanket
How did those HOLES get in my knitting????

This past Thanksgiving I wanted my Niece Kristy to show me how to knit- she does beautiful work and I love it! So off we go to get the stuff and of course I wanted to knit a Doggie Blanket in RED. Well, after 2 months of a lot of stuff here is my project - HA HA - I do like doing it but only if I'm sitting down which is not very much. And where oh where did those holes come from and how do I fix them?????? I also have no idea how to finish this but when I run out of yarn I'll call Kristy - do you hear that? This will be the funniest Doggie Blanket in the world but I do love it. Like I need another hobby - I need to get my butt back in the studio and paint. But sometimes a girl just has to try different things even if they are not pretty!

Ouch

Could this be who I got my cold from???? Love ya, Grayson!
I'm trying to get back to posting..........Had a great New Year's Eve, Got a really bad cold, (Grayson, I kissed you at Beluga!!!!) worked in Columbus this weekend, 3 of us had colds, computer crashed, got a new laptop on Sunday - took it back on Monday and got another one - it was a bad disc of Vista - got a new disc of Vista - transferring all my stuff from the other computer now.....did I mention I have a bad cold?........We're supposed to be getting maybe 5 inches of rain (this is a very good thing) - it's pouring right now and sounds lovely. The computer is nice but it's not one of the little ones - Kenny says I'll be old to read the screen! I think he may be right - I just love those Mini's! I've got to get OFF this computer and go to bed with my puppies! Oh, they need a bath too.....but I cleaned out kitchen cabinets today (while Kenny took the first computer back) and did laundry....I'll catch up in March!!!!! Happy New Year to All.....
